Good Shepherd Lutheran is a daughter church of Spencer Creek Lutheran. A meeting was held on June 29, 1955 to consider the possibility of building. Gifts of timber, land and money made this possible. On September 7, 1955 the first general meeting of the new congregation was held. Organization took place and the name “The Good Shepherd Lutheran” was agreed upon, chosen in remembrance of the 23rd Psalm. There were 35 charter members.
